I made a really easy cabbage roll dinner the other night. We have a freezer full of organic beef that I am always trying to use in new ways. We only use it a couple nights a week, but I like to try and think of different uses for it. I happened to have everything on hand for this recipe, and we really liked it. Plus, if I don't have to buy anything extra for dinner, I'm super happy!

Yesterday was not a good day. PMS and I do not mix well. Since I've had kids, I usually don't feel quite as effected by hormones this time of month. However, yesterday was the exception. I woke up crabby, achey, and miserable and continued to feel that way throughout the day. My poor husband. The kids I can handle, because I don't want to take out my anger/frustration/bad mood on them. It's not always easy when I feel like exploding all day, but I can manage. However, my husband is another story. Our day went like this:

Husband says something, I get mad.

Husband apologizes, I still feel mad.

I apologize and feel horrible for being mad, realizing I snapped for no reason.

Husband says something else, I get mad.

Husband apologizes, I still feel mad.

I apologize and feel horrible for being mad, realizing I have snapped AGAIN for no reason.

And on and on and on.

It was really lovely. I am surprised he didn't just take a frying pan to my head and knock me out. And then continue to do so every time I start to wake up over the next few days. At least that way he could have been assured that he'd live through the next few days.

On a happier note, I went to town to do some grocery shopping last night by myself, which was much needed. Not just for me, but for the rest of my poor family! Anyway, before I come home I usually stop at Borders if I'm by myself. Last night being the beautiful night it was was no exception. I even finished my grocery shopping in record time, since I'm trying to spend less. I find if I don't just wander the aisles of the store I don't spend as much!

Okay, back to Borders. They always have a table of markdown books outside, but I don't usually find anything that grabs my attention. Last night, though, there were FOUR tables of markdowns. I perused them for almost an hour, found four books I couldn't reisist, all for only 3 or 4 dollars each! So exciting. Totally made my bad day good.

Until I got home and my husband spoke, that is...

Thank goodness today is a new day.

Many cultures have built elaborate taboos and rituals of separation around a woman's menstrual cycle.

I think these cultures may have something there.....

Perhaps you all should invest in a 'PMS Bomb Shelter' that he can retreat to or that you can be sequestered in ;)
